Our Vetting Process
At Bushel + Peck, we recognize the significance of choosing the perfect wedding photographer for our couples. Our commitment lies in ensuring that every photographer affiliated with us possesses the passion, skills, and experience needed to capture the special moments of a wedding day.
We take immense pride in our team of talented photographers, prioritizing a positive experience for both photographers and clients. Our photographers lead in ensuring client satisfaction, maintaining a consistent standard of quality work throughout.
Candidates interested in joining B+P are asked to submit full-length wedding galleries showcasing proficiency in low-light and off-camera flash techniques, along with essential skills like detailed layflats and posing couples. After reviewing portfolios and public reviews, we conduct interviews to assess experience, understand their approach to capturing unique wedding moments, and ensure they align with our client-focused ethos.
Photographers are expected to maintain their own professional camera equipment, a variety of lenses, and lighting tools. This ensures they are always equipped to capture the perfect shot, regardless of lighting conditions or environment.
Booking dates to work with B+P is simple!
*B+P does understand that photographers may choose to hold dates for personal bookings however we aim to have our photographers committed and assigned a minimum of 90 days out.
As required by the IRS, businesses must maintain accurate documentation of employee and contractors including filing the appropriate tax documentation. Working for B+P as an associate or second shooter is considered contract labor and will require a W-9 for anyone who earns over $600 within a 1 year period. At the end of the calendar year you will receive a 1099 document from B+P that you will file to the IRS when you do your own taxes.
Additionally, at the time of acceptance, photographers working with Bushel + Peck Photo as a contractor for photography services sign an associate or second shooter agreement that outlines expectations and responsibilities of all parties and also accept project details of each individual job or event to reserve the date.
All images captured for B+P as work for hire should be considered property of B+P including copyright.
In the event the client gives permission in their contract to share images, B+P does allow limited use with credit to use images captured by you as photographer while working with B+P, 3 months after delivery to the client. This is covered in our associate agreement more thoroughly.
